Armed with the insight that TABASCO® was so much bigger than the little
bottle it came in, Bent Media convinced McIlhenny Company that this world-renowned,
well-loved brand was deserving of the ultimate online homage. Called PepperFest®,
the TABASCO® web site is an online festival that captures and celebrates
the food, music, history and excitement of south Louisiana and TABASCO® culture,
drawing visitors in to their own little patch of Avery Island, LA – home
to TABASCO® brand Pepper Sauce. Originally created by Bent Media for the
McIlhenny company in 1996 and fully redesigned in 2001 to further integrate
dynamic content and e-commerce capabilities, visitors can see cooking demonstrations
and Louisiana art exhibits, listen to Louisiana music clips, download entertaining
screensavers, and get recipes, seasonal menus, usage tips, Avery Island history,
product information and merchandise at the Online TABASCO® Country Store.
Bent Media created an administrative tool that TABASCO® Country Store
personnel use to manage inventory and upload merchandise. Since 1996, with the
help of Bent’s merchandising and promotional strategies, sales at the
Online TABASCO® Country Store have doubled every year. And in 2001, Bent
Media launched the successful online-only introduction of a new flavor called
TABASCO® brand Chipotle Pepper Sauce, with 10, 000 bottles sold online in
three months.
Monthly email newsletters featuring branded, value-added content are sent
to an in-house database of over 70,000 TABASCO® fans, and our
award winning branded screensavers have been downloaded over half a million
times. As a testament to PepperFest®’s creative excellence, Bent Media has garnered several
regional and national creative awards for the site, including a National Addy
and most recently, a 2004 WebAward for Best Consumer Goods Web Site. Turnkey
